The recipient of the 2023 Emma L. Cunningham Memorial Scholarship is Alejandra Roman-Ramirez from Fremont High School.
An excerpt from Alejandra’s essay: "My biggest motivation are my parents who immigrated to the United States and made sacrifices to insure that my siblings and I had a better future. As a first generation college student I hope to break certain cycles and start a new chain for future generations to pursue their education. I hope to demonstrate to other low-income students of color like myself that by working hard we do have a chance to be successful in life and achieve our goals...."
